Florida Atlantic University Football Work Plan
My opportunity was with the Florida Atlantic University Football program. The program has only been in existence since 2001 and competing in Conference USA. I do want to express my gratitude to Graham, Coach Partridge and the FAU football staff for allowing me to assist them and continue learning more while being able to be involved with an up and coming program.
Reporting: I will be working with the Director of Player Personnel and External Relations, Graham Wilbert. I will be reporting to him upon arrival and departure to ensure all of my time is documented and also to maximize my time I am working with the program.
Duties: I will be assisting the program with recruiting, high school player evaluations, player development, game day preparations, game day support, assisting coaching staff and any other needs the program requests.
Learning Objectives: My goal is to learn more about collegiate recruiting and all player personnel responsibility on the collegiate level. I also will be looking to learn new methods of film reviewing and the regulations the NCAA places on the staff and student athletes.
Compensation: This opportunity is an internship which did not come with pay. I am considered staff so some benefits such as free apparel, meals and game day meals are included with my internship.
Hours/Duration: I will be completing the full 200 hours required but I have committed my time to the organization for the season. I do commute four hours to the campus in which I plan to work as many hours per day as possible to maximize my time at FAU. I also expressed that I can do projects or film review from home if there is an opportunity to do so.
Expected outcome: I plan to maximize my opportunity with FAU because football is the career path that I have selected. Working with every aspect of the team, I want to learn from watching the coaches, recruiting, operations and anything that I can use to propel my career in this very competitive industry.
